BAUMSCHATTEN, 2013
The painter Jan Davidoff’s work in glass attracts attention at first sight, the reason being the diversity of forms, colours, and techniques used for his reproduction of nature, now set behind glass with a depth of several centimetres.
The dalles de verre used, by their nature, include bubbles. Large and small bubbles partly pass through the material just as a coral reef runs through the sea. They produce reflections of the motif and, so to say, a criss-crossing of light and shadow. Davidoff increases this effect by combining printing with pictorial techniques, thus intensifying the depth of the image.
